About
Built because government appointment portals are universally bad and the alternatives are worse.
SlotOwl is a product of greythinkinglab LLC, a small US software studio. It is operated entirely by its founder. There is no investor pressure, no growth team, no sales department, no engagement-optimization council. The roadmap is decided by what the operator wants the product to be in five years and what users actually email about.
Why it exists
The founder spent the better part of a year cycling through US visa interviews, INM Mexico residency appointments, and Schengen visa appointments for personal travel. The pattern was identical every time: log into a portal that looks like it was last updated in 2009, click "schedule appointment", get a popup that says no appointments are available, close the popup, click "schedule appointment", get a popup, close the popup. Repeat for hours. Eventually find one of the Telegram channels that promise to alert you when a slot opens. Discover that the channel either requires you to share your portal password with an anonymous third party, charges $50/month with no refund policy, or quietly disappears mid-month with everyone's money.
SlotOwl is the product the founder wished existed during all of that. A piece of software with the name of a real US LLC behind it, a real refund policy, an architecture that makes the privacy claims verifiable, and a price that's reasonable rather than predatory. That's all.
The team
SlotOwl is built and supported by greythinkinglab — the same studio behind the greythinkinglab YouTube channel and a handful of other small, useful tools. Not a marketing affectation: one operator behind one brand, building things that are meant to last past the launch week. If you've watched the channel, you already know what to expect — careful work, plain-English explanations, no growth-hack nonsense.
Support emails go to a real person and the reply comes back from the same address. Write to hello@slotowl.app any time.
What we won't do
- Sell or share your data with anyone, ever.
- Pivot into ticket scalping, sneaker drops, or other consumer-scarcity markets to grow the business — we explicitly prohibit those use cases in our terms.
- Operate from a residential IP, hide behind a fake corporate identity, or use any of the patterns common in this niche that make users (correctly) suspicious.
- Take VC money. The product has a defined feature set; it does not need to grow at any particular rate.
- Add ads, "sponsored" content, or affiliate links inside the extension or on appointment-related pages of this site.
The unusual constraints we've accepted
- Browser-side only. We will never offer "we'll log into your portal for you." Even if it would convert better. Even if users ask for it.
- One operator, one timezone. Support emails are answered within 24 hours, sometimes 48 on weekends. No 24/7 chat.
- No marketing to non-government use cases. Even though the underlying engine works fine for ticket sites.
- 30-day money back, no questions. If the product doesn't help you, we want the money back in your account, not in our books.
How we make money (in case you wondered)
People buy credit bundles — 5 credits for $19, or 10 for $29 — and one credit is consumed on each day SlotOwl actually delivers them an alert. No alert, no charge. Polling itself is always free. There is no subscription, no auto-renew, no card on file. That's the whole revenue model. No data sales, no advertising, no enterprise upsell. The math at scale is simple: a few hundred bundles a month makes the operator a comfortable living and pays for the infrastructure with margin to spare. We do not need to grow beyond that to be sustainable.
Press / partnerships / general inquiries
